Individual sessions
Child psychotherapy is a process that begins with establishing safety and trust in a new relationship. Meaning and patterns emerge over time and are understood within the relationship, through drawing, talking, and playing.
Understanding leads to a decrease in “the behaviors”, as it gives meaning to the feelings and thoughts underlying the behaviors. This leads to improvements in relationships and an increase in the capacity to reflect and to think on one’s own.
This process takes time. Individual sessions are 50mn, 1x or 2x per week, often for a couple of years, as the issues are understood with ongoing development. 2x per week sessions are strongly encouraged, as they allow the process to deepen.
There are alternatives and adjuncts to psychotherapy, and referrals may be given when indicated. Referrals may also be given for outside assessments (including occupational therapy, or neuropsychological evaluations).
Family sessions
Family sessions are 45mn-60mn, at a frequency to be determined. They are typically used to form and maintain an alliance with parents or guardians to support the child in therapy.
Groups
I am accepting referrals for neurodiverse children and adolescents seeking play groups or peer groups supporting peer relationships, working through anxiety, and thinking about peers’ inner worlds (mentalization and theory of mind) via shared affinities like Minecraft, anime, board games, movies, art, and science.
Days, times, and frequency are based on the needs of the participants, and their affinities. 1x per week, or 1x per month, for 2 hours. I offer Saturday times as well, especially for participants commuting from the counties.
Payment Policy and Cancellations
Children benefit from reliable, predictable routines, including meeting at the same time and place. It is best to plan ahead for any holidays or other times when appointments cannot be kept.
For out-of-network / self-paying patients, payment is due in full at the time of booking. Sessions may be refunded if canceled at least 24 hours in advance.
Do you take insurance?
I am a Maryland Medical Assistance / Medicaid Provider, and am in-network with some commercial insurance companies including:

I can also provide a superbill for out-of-network patients to submit to their insurance companies for potential reimbursement. My fee is $200 per session.
